MURDER AT THE HORSE AUCTION
It's Never Too Late Mystery #6
Historical, Thriller/Suspense
DonnaRae Menard
Changes are hard for Katelyn Took. Restorations on her grandfather’s barn are wrapping up, but surprise needs are surfacing. Her love, Deputy Foster, has moved from the farm to a house in the village to care for her grandmother. Katie took on boarders, believing it would be a financial win, but that’s not quite happening. She needs a day off. The Annual Vermont Workhorse Auction is happening in New Haven, and she takes herself to the fairgrounds. There are plenty of people, food, and somewhere on the grounds, her favorite deputy is out there in uniform. From high on the bleachers, she searches for Marlie, but what she sees is a dead man among the auction offerings. He’s young, fair, and dressed as the Amish seated in the first row are. Who is he? Why did this happen during the frivolity? And more than that, what reason would someone have to murder an innocent? It’s a crime happening far from home, but Marlie is part of a different sheriff’s team, and Katie is asking the wrong person questions. It looks like a long, cold soak is in her future.
