SARAH BEWLEY
Although born and raised in the South, she did not spend her childhood looking at the backside of a mule, have parents who were cousins, nor ever learned to play the banjo. Her childhood was marked by Southern Baptist fundamentalism, alcoholism, and family secrets. The rich tradition of oral story-telling that is prevalent in the South, abetted by a childhood addiction to television, convinced her that writing plays was all she ever wanted to do. Sarah wrote plays for decades and won awards and was produced in major cities around the USA and in Australia.
Then her love of books led her to try her hand at mystery novels. Her first book, Burning Eden, was published in 2023 and the second, Frozen Eden in 2024. The third, Drowning Eden is due to come out in 2026. The Eden County Mysteries are procedurals, and she loves her fictional North Central Florida county, and the people who live and work there.
She's had a short story published in the Malice Domestic Anthology, Mystery Most Humorous, with a story titled "Mandatory Retirement" set in North Florida.
Sarah lives in Gainesville, Florida with Pat Payne, a visual artist who works primarily in photography. They occupy a 700 square foot cottage with a Red Rocket Crape Myrtle planted in the flower garden in front of their bedroom windows. It is a symbol of their love for each other – and for the beauty of North Central Florida.
