
MICHAEL RALEIGH
Michael Raleigh is the author of eleven novels, including both mainstream and detective fiction. His books include In the Castle of the Flynns (Sourcebooks), the Paul Whelan Detective Series (St. Martin's), and Peerless Detective (Diversion Books). His most recent book is Poe Street (Level Best Books), a mystery set in Chicago in the immediate year after World War II.
Michael has been a college teacher, a bartender, a bank teller, a fundraiser for the Salvation Army, and a microfiche technician. He is currently at work on a sequel to Poe Street and a family epic titled When the Scanlans Owned the Pharoh.
Michael writes almost exclusively about the past and states that cell phone reception will never be a part of one of his plots. He is an avid gardener and an archer, so that when the apolcalypse arrives, he can feed his family and hunt down his enemies. When he is not writing, he studies Irish (he has dual Irish and American citizenship) and watches the stars. His wife Katherine takes care of him.
