With roots in the Mississippi Delta and the Texas Hill Country, Gary  Phillips must keep writing to forestall his appointment at the Crossroads. He’s written novels, short stories, comic books, worked some  in TV and edited anthologies such as the award-winning The Obama  Inheritance: Fifteen Stories of Conspiracy Noir.  His short story "The BlackLight Gizmo Matter" was included in the 2025 edition of Best American Mystery and Suspense.
