About the Author...
Dawn M. Barclay (who writes fiction as D.M. Barr) has been writing in the travel field since the 1980s, first as a travel trade journalist and later as a book author. She is the award-winning author of the autism travel bible, Traveling Different: Vacation Strategies for Parents of the Anxious, the Inflexible, and the Neurodiverse (Rowman & Littlefield, 2022). The book received a coveted starred review from Library Journal (August 2022) and won the Lowell Thomas Gold Award in 2023 from the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation (like winning the Oscar for travel writing). It also won first prize in the Maxy Awards (Inspiration/Self Help category) and Honorable Mention in the 2023 Arlene Awards from the American Society of Journalists and Authors for Books that Make A Difference. Dawn also won the First Prize-Other Writing award from the Society of Professional Journalists in 1992 for a story on travel law. |
